History: Studied as a Jedi until his late twenties when he found a dark artifact stored in the Jedi Temple, when feeling the power emanating from this centuries old artifact he began doubting everything that he had been taught under the Jedi tutelage. If the Dark side was not more powerful than the light, then how did this artifact still hold more power than some Jedi in the temple?
Voar Kan managed to get himself assigned to finding and bringing back Dark side artifacts to the safety of the Jedi Temple and began investigating the items during the flights back to Coruscant, for most of the items he found he learned all he could during transit and handed them in to the temple staff but there were occasional exceptions which he kept aboard his ship to study further.
The three artifacts which he found but did not hand in to the temple, claiming the searches had been dead ends were all Sith Holocrons; one belonged to Darth Bane, another belonged to Darth Zanitine (a long forgotten Sith who’s Holocron focused mainly on Sith technology and how to create a crystal for use in Lightsaber construction which produced the trademark red blades of dark side users) and the last belonged to Sister Mreul (a Sith sorceress from the time of the old republic).
He studied from these Holocrons as often as he could, trying to gleam all of the knowledge he could from them, by the time that order 66 was issued he had learned of the Rule of Two which Bane had created for the Sith when he was instrumental in removing the weaker minded Sith of his day along with an understanding of Bane’s skills with a Lighsaber (he doubted any of the Jedi at the temple could have matched Bane in combat). From Zanatine’s Holocron he learned the methods and with the correct guidance was successful in forming a red crystal for his Lightaber, realising that he could not go brandishing a red Lightsaber in his Jedi robes he used Zanatine’s knowledge to create a slightly unusual Dual-phase Lightaber which housed two power crystals as well as two focusing crystals so instead of shifting between lengths the blade also went from blue to red as it changed to the longer blade. From Mreul’s Holocron he learned much about Sith Sorcery, including illusion, healing and a few darker tricks which he has only ever tested once or twice since learning the methods with many more yet to be learned.
Voar Kan managed to survive order 66 due to his natural affinity for the defensive arts, absorbing several shots into an instinctual force barrier while drawing his Lightsaber, before proceeding to kill all of the soldiers in the room and fleeing. Feeling the deaths of so many Jedi through the force he decided his time as a Jedi had come to an end and the time to embrace his dark side had come. As he cast off his Jedi robes he cast off his old name, becoming Lord Typhon, an apt name for one who started as a Jedi and had to move on to become something more as the Jedi had left Typhon all those centuries before and the Sith culture had been born.
Lord Typhon stopped briefly during his escape to save the life of a Jedi Padawan in the compound whom he found trying to defend himself against 7 troopers while stood over his fallen Master, not because of any ties to the Jedi way but because he intended the Clone Troopers to be too busy chasing the young Padawan to notice him slipping away quietly. Using a Clone Trooper drop ship to escape the orbital station he took the pilot as a hostage when he headed to his ship, ensuring the drop ship was blown apart just above the closest planet in case anyone was aware of his leaving the station they would believe him dead in the explosion or marooned on the barely inhabitable planet below.
Staying mostly in space Lord Typhon spent the next few standard weeks following the news on the holo-net, checking in with his more seedy contacts and torturing his hostage for information, what he learned was not good. It seemed the Sith tradition he had learned from Darth Bane’s Holocron had survived; with the arrival of this Lord Vader at the downfall of the Jedi it didn’t take long to work out that he was a Sith bent on the annihilation of the Jedi who had survived the kill command which he had learned from the Clone Trooper was known as Order 66. Adding this information to the fast collapse of the Republic he surmised that Palpatine was likely the other Sith, the only question now was which one is the Master and which the apprentice?
What time was not spent trying to gauge the situation in the galaxy was spent studying the Holocrons in his position and trying to decide where he fit into this new world, he thought about trying to approach the Sith, he had talents he was sure they would find useful but they were too unpredictable, he briefly thought about trying to find other Jedi survivors and leading them into battle against the Sith but he didn’t really care who was running the galaxy. In the end he decided he would become a Bounty Hunter and sell his talents to the highest bidder, the credits he earned could be used to help him track down more artifacts to lead to the immortality that he had begun to covet.

Personality: As Voar Kan spent much of his life as a Jedi does not easily form attachments, although there have been exceptions, mostly with the Dark objects he chose to keep for himself. He had begun forming what he believed was a strong bond with the Clone Troopers he served with and cutting these ties has left its mark and it may take some time before he truly trusts another person.
After developing a natural affinity with defensive skills Voar Kan has spent many years studying defensive strategy which has left him with an analytic mindset, evaluating even the simplest situations for potential threats and his later endeavors in the dark side have led to him being able to spot small advantages that many would miss or merely stumble into by accident.
Now living as Lord Typhon he is primarily out for himself, he wants to be more powerful in the force and believes that by utilizing the light and dark sides of the force he can grow more powerful and bring him ever closer to immortality. Any money he makes, any pacts he forms all share that same goal of power, but unlike most who turn to the dark side he does not want to rule the galaxy or wipe out all Jedi, but that’s not to say he wouldn’t like to rule a tribe or even a planet should an opportunity present itself.
As Voar Kan and later as Lord Typhon he has always dedicated hours every day to the force and Lightsaber training, always looking for a challenge to test his ever growing skills to ensure he does not grow weak or complacent and to help him find a potential ally or perhaps an apprentice.

Does your character have any close ties to existing canon characters? (Canon OCs and AUs only.) The only canon character he has close ties to is Darth Bane’s Gatekeeper from his time spent with the Holocron.

Why do you think your character would work in this setting? Why did your character accept Eli's offer? He was trying to decide where to start his new life when Eli made his offer and this place sounded as good as any other to start over. How will they respond to the setting? He will e able to settle in to the setting well, his time as a Jedi led him to many worlds with varying mixtures of technological states, the only real difference here is that he can’t just get on his ship and leave. Will they interact well with others? He will try to become a part of the community in general but will always be looking out for situations he believes he can profit gain from and looking for new potential allies. If somebody gets in his way or pries into his personal affairs he is likely to make an enemy of them.

What will your character do for work? He is likely to try a few fields but I would like him to start as a pilot which will be somewhat familiar although I imagine the types of vehicle available will take him quite by surprise.
